Your obligations & responsibilities

As an employer there are some things that you will be required to do for trainees undertaking Seafood ITO workplace training

  • Provide a good working environment, supply positive and constructive feedback, instill professionalism, set a good example as a member of the seafood industry, maintain skill and knowledge of current industry standards
  • Provide Seafood ITO with signed Training Agreements leading towards the qualifications listed in the trainee’s Training Plan
  • Provide training, support and resources to trainees that results in successful achievement of the unit standards and qualifications identified in Training Plans. This can be any combination of on and off job training
  • Provide Seafood ITO with copies of invoices for any expense incurred in the training and assessment of trainees by the employer
  • Send monthly reports on the results of workplace assessment to Seafood ITO
  • Where an external training provider is used, ensure that unit standard assessment results are provided to Seafood ITO
  • Provide Seafood ITO with any other agreed information necessary to meet internal (Seafood ITO) and external (TEC and NZQA) reporting requirements
  • Provide Seafood ITO with details of any trainee who leaves employment within three months of their departure
  • Facilitate and encourage participation by Māori and Pacific peoples
